Text Box: PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

At the risk of appearing crass and self-serving, I would like to announce that my novel Neither Predator Nor Prey will be going to the printer before you receive this newsletter.
Actually NPNP is as much your book as it is mine. If I did not believe that at least a small number of Wyoming gun owners will do the right thing when the time comes, I would not have bothered to write the book.
With the incredibly poor choice of presidential candidates foisted upon us, the scenario played out in NPNP appears to be an increasingly likely one. The Senate ratifies the UN Global Gun Ban Treaty and Wyoming tells the Senate just what they can do with it.
This is not necessarily a doomed, hopeless exercise in futility as some of you may initially believe. With the upcoming economic collapse and the almost universal loathing of politicians, resistance is NOT futile.
If you care to think about it, a future War on Guns will be planned, organized, and conducted by the same geniuses (and their replacement geniuses) who brought you Alcohol Prohibition, the War on Drugs, the War on Poverty, Mogadishu Madness, the Invasion of Haiti, FEMA's response to Katrina, the Hunt For Bin Laden, the Four Corners Fools Carnival, TSA, the DC Sniper Debacle, the list goes on virtually forever.
If past performance is any indicator of future performance, those on the wrong side of the War on Guns will be poorly trained, poorly led, and poorly motivated. They will have little to no public support and there will be neither loyalty up nor loyalty down. They can be defeated.
So, do not despair but rather think of the ancient proverb, "The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on." A contemporary paraphrase might be, "The politicians Text Box: bark, but we continue to go about our business." Pay no more heed to the DC dogs of today than the ancient caravans paid to those long deceased desert dogs of yesteryear. Mark Spungin
