Here we go again. A horrendous thing happens,
which involved guns. A mad man kills defenseless women and children, and
somehow guns are responsible. And we gun owners are also responsible. All the
old arguments come to mind, only bad people kill people, not bad guns, killers
do their murder in gun free zones, when guns are outlawed, etc. So what else is
left to say?
If guns and ammunition are made difficult to buy,
own and use, what is the result. All we need do is look at where this has
happened in other places. People the world over are defenseless from
predators. The English have no right of self defense, literally, the victim is
the one prosecuted if he uses violence to protect himself, loved ones or
property.
WSSA had it's quarterly meeting yesterday in Casper and
was well attended. Everyone was concerned, but not overly anxious. There was
discussion about how or even whether to reply to the accusations from media and
the anitgunners. There was a consensus that our position is well known and does
not need to be reiterated. So we shall remain calm and determined in the
face of this newest onslaught.
There are some gun friendly bills in the upcoming
legislature. Our local politicians remain gun friendly for the most part.
There are quite a few ranges in Wyoming to shoot at, and many gun friendly
people around us. So be of good cheer and do not despair. Learn your gun
facts, how they keep us safe and well as free. They Cannot be given up, to do
so means a life that is not free and your life's course is determined by others.
So shoot, it is fun, be safe. Teach your young to shoot and be safe with
firearms.
