Wyoming High Power Rifle Silhouette

CHAMPIONSHIPS

August 16 and 17 were days of calm, pleasant weather to conduct the championships.  The attendance was down from average but the shooters banged out some good numbers in the 2x40 program.   Standard guns fired on the 16th and hunting rifles the 17th.  All 4 competitors used Rem 700’s with Leupolds on 7 of the 8 guns.

Bob McAlice, Arvada, CO started slow but then realized he wasn’t shooting in the CO winds and shot a 31 in the 2nd 40 to take the STATE CHAMPION trophy. He shoots a 7-08, with 130 Sierra MK on the c-p-t and 168 Sierra MK for rams. The match winner posted 50 to win.

Ron Kamp, Daniel, WY finished up the 2nd 40 with 5 in a row turkeys but couldn’t catch McAlice with his bobcat; his 48 took 1st AAA.   Tyler Kamp was match winner in the 1st 40 but was unable to pick up the pace as did the others in the final 40; taking 2nd AAA @ 45.  Roger Sebesta, Lander won AA with a 7BR @ 41.  The Kamps use Sierra 107 & 142 MK.  Sebesta sends 150 Sierra MK’s down range.

Sundays hunting rifle event saw Ron Kamp win the 1st 40 with a 26 and hung on to win his 1st WY Champion  trophy after many close 2nd place finishes @ 47/80.   McAlice was at 23  and Tyler at 19.  Tyler posted 23 for the win in the 2nd 40 to slide into 1st AAA over McAlice’s 41.  Sebesta put a pair of 19’s on the board to win 1st AA.

This was the 33rd WY championship event in HP MS.  Thanks to Sierra Bullets for providing several appreciated merchandise certificates.  All were awarded by drawing.
